I never saw the flag.
I threw my helmet so far into the air. I jumped around for joy and hugged my teammates. Our second Grey Cup Championship in 3 seasons, and the first with me as the starting quarterback. This was real.
But something was wrong. The cheers weren’t loud enough.
Playing in Calgary against a team from the East, we had the home crowd so the noise should have been insane. Coach LaPolice was up in the booth, so on the sideline we didn’t really know what was going on. Was the game over?
Then I saw the flag down on the field.
